Virat Kohli’s Majestic Century Powers India to 4th World Cup Victory

Virat Kohli’s 48th ODI century propels India to their 4th World Cup win as they chase down Bangladesh’s 256.

India 261 for 3 (Kohli 103*, Gill 53) beat Bangladesh 256 for 8 (Litton 66, Tanzid 51, Mahmudullah 46) by 7 wickets

India secured their fourth victory in the ICC World Cup 2023, and Virat Kohli‘s magnificent 48th ODI century played a pivotal role in their win. Tasked with chasing a target of 257, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill set the stage for India’s success. However, it was Virat Kohli who sealed the victory for the Men in Blue with a classic century.

Rohit and Gill‘s formidable opening partnership of 88 runs laid a strong foundation, but Hasan Mahmud dismissed Indian captain Kohli for 48. Gill, meanwhile, achieved his maiden World Cup fifty before his departure, and Shreyas Iyer contributed 19 runs from 25 balls.

With KL Rahul joining Kohli in the middle, India successfully pursued the target.

Bangladesh posted 256/8, with openers Litton Das and Tanzim Hasan scoring fifties. Veteran Mahmudullah’s crucial contribution in the later stages propelled Bangladesh beyond the 250-run mark.

Kohli’s extraordinary performance ensured India’s victory in the thrilling encounter.
