Emergency crews in Temple, located approximately 30 miles south of Waco, responded to the scene on State Highway 36, just west of Highway 317, on Saturday. Temple Fire & Rescue reported that a 350,000-pound load had detached from its transport trailer and crushed a vehicle underneath it.
Tragically, two occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third individual was airlifted to the emergency room with life-threatening injuries.
Rescue efforts spanned over four hours as crews worked tirelessly to extricate the driver from the wreckage.
