TCU and UT Arlington Welcome Record-Breaking Student Enrollment as Fall Semester Begins

ARRANT COUNTY, Texas – The fall semester kicked off Monday with historic milestones for two major North Texas universities: Texas Christian University (TCU) and the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA).

At TCU, excitement filled the campus as more than 13,000 students returned, including a record-breaking 2,700 first-year students. University officials celebrated the achievement with welcome events, freebies, and custom buttons marking the occasion. The incoming class is the largest in TCU’s history, signaling growing demand for the private university’s academic and extracurricular offerings.

Meanwhile, UT Arlington is also experiencing a surge in enrollment. Unofficial figures show more than 5,000 first-year students beginning their college journey this fall — the largest incoming class in the school’s history. In addition to the milestone, UTA leaders say the university is on track for its highest-ever first-year retention rate, an encouraging sign that students are not only enrolling but also choosing to stay.

Both universities credit a mix of strong academic programs, expanding campus resources, and vibrant student life for attracting record numbers. Leaders say the growth also reflects the rising appeal of North Texas as a hub for higher education and opportunity.

As classes begin, students at both institutions are diving into their new academic journeys, while administrators see the historic enrollments as a promising step for the future of their campuses.
