T-Series and Cine1 Studios Settle Animal Profit Dispute Out of Court
Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios resolve their profit-sharing dispute over Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal out of court.
The ongoing profit-sharing dispute between Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios regarding the film “Animal” has been settled out of court. The disagreement arose when Cine1 accused T-Series of breaching their contract related to promotions, credits, and final costs without consultation.
As reported, lawyers representing both studios informed the Delhi High Court about reaching an agreement to resolve their issues. The settlement, yet to be officially presented to the court for approval on January 24, indicates the end of obstacles for the film’s digital release on platforms like Netflix India.
Previously, Cine1 alleged T-Series didn’t consult them for promotional aspects and failed to share agreements with Netflix India and Sony Pictures Networks India. T-Series countered, stating that in an August 2022 amendment agreement, Cine1 relinquished all rights to the film for Rs 2.6 crores.
The court, led by Justice Sanjeev Narula, had scheduled evidence marking for March 15. However, with the out-of-court settlement, the legal battle concludes, providing clarity for the digital release of “Animal” and avoiding further proceedings.
