Sunny Deol, who recently soared back to immense stardom with the success of Gadar 2, will revive another of his iconic franchises. The much-acclaimed Border, which originally released in 1997, is getting a sequel. The makers announced that Border 2 will hit theaters in January 2026, almost 29 years after the original film.
On June 14, the makers revealed the release date of Border 2 through an announcement video. The highly anticipated film, starring Sunny Deol, will release on January 23, 2026, to coincide with India’s 77th Republic Day celebrations. With January 26 falling on a Monday, the film’s Friday release will capitalize on the extended holiday weekend, perfectly timing its launch to capture the patriotic fervor of the nation.
T-Series and JP Films are producing the movie, with Nidhi Dutta, daughter of the original Border filmmaker JP Dutta, writing the script. The film promises extensive sets and power-packed action sequences that will recreate the intense atmosphere of the Battle of Longewala. The production will start in October this year.
