Sonakshi Sinha’s Second Back-to-Back Double Role in Kakuda After Heeramandi

Sonakshi Sinha is all set to celebrate 14 years in Bollywood this September. Throughout her career, she has played various roles, but 2024 marks a significant milestone as she takes on dual roles for the first time. After her much-talked-about web series, Heeramandi, she features in a double role in her latest release, Kakuda.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya fame, Kakuda is a horror comedy that premiered directly on Zee5. The film is set in a village haunted by a midget ghost who attacks a newly married man, Sunny (played by Saqib Salaam). As Sunny faces imminent danger, his wife, Indira aka Indu (Sonakshi Sinha), seeks help from a ghost hunter, Victor Jacobs (Riteish Deshmukh).

Soon, viewers discover that Indu has a twin sister named Gomati. This twin sister angle adds an intriguing twist and becomes crucial to the plot, especially in the film’s second half. Unlike Heeramandi, where Sonakshi’s characters, Rehana and her daughter Fareedan, never appear together, Kakuda features many scenes with both of Sonakshi’s characters on screen simultaneously.

Kakuda also marks Sonakshi Sinha’s first release after her marriage to long-time boyfriend and actor Zaheer Iqbal. Their wedding was a star-studded affair, which sparked some controversies due to protests in Bihar and her brother Luv Sinha’s comments about Zaheer on the microblogging platform X, which he later deleted.

Before Heeramandi, Sonakshi’s first release of 2024 was Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, where she played a supporting role. Her upcoming project, Nikita Roy And The Book Of Darkness, is directed by her brother Kussh Sinha.
