Singham Again Movie Review

Star Cast: Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan
Director: Rohit Shetty
Review Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5)

Script Analysis

Singham Again attempts to weave mythology into its narrative by drawing parallels with Ramayana. However, the execution falls short, resulting in a chaotic screenplay riddled with preachy dialogues and underdeveloped character arcs. While Ranveer Singh’s Hanuman-inspired Simmba shines in a few moments—such as his comical antics in Sri Lanka—the rest of the cast struggles to make an impact.

Key plot points, like Kareena Kapoor Khan’s captivity mirroring Sita’s in Ramayana, feel forced. Tiger Shroff and Deepika Padukone’s characters, supposedly inspired by Lakshman and Sugreev, lack depth and relevance. Even the climactic battle fails to deliver the thrill expected of a Rohit Shetty spectacle, resorting instead to recycled action sequences and flying cars. The humor, including modern dating jokes, misses the mark, leaving the audience unamused.

Star Performance

Ajay Devgn’s Singham feels like a shadow of his former self, lacking the intensity that made the character iconic. Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi enters with style but exits with little substance, while Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty feels miscast, struggling with dialogue delivery and underwhelming screen presence. Tiger Shroff’s contribution is similarly forgettable, as his character lacks significance in the plot.

Arjun Kapoor surprises with his portrayal of the antagonist, delivering a performance that exceeds expectations. Yet, the film’s true standout is Ranveer Singh’s Simmba, who brings infectious energy and humor, stealing every scene he’s in. His antics, whether interrupting a romantic moment or lamenting his fate, provide much-needed levity to the otherwise lackluster film.

Direction and Music

Rohit Shetty’s signature style of over-the-top action and spectacle takes center stage but lacks coherence. The narrative leans heavily on Ravi Basrur and Thaman S’s pulsating background score to compensate for weak direction and disjointed execution. While the music provides momentary excitement, it cannot salvage the film from its preachy dialogues and uninspired storytelling.

The Last Word

Singham Again struggles to live up to the legacy of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. Despite its ambitious premise and star-studded cast, the film falls victim to a cluttered narrative, underwhelming performances, and unoriginal action sequences. While Ranveer Singh’s Simmba provides a few laughs, it’s not enough to save this chaotic spectacle.

Verdict: Watch it only if you’re a die-hard fan of the cop universe, but temper your expectations.
