Sagar Bhatia to Make Playback Singing Debut with Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira

Sagar Bhatia, known for redefining Qawwali for the younger generation with his fresh take on the genre, is set to make his mark in Bollywood. He revived interest in Qawwali among Hindi music listeners and is now bringing his talent to feature films with his first Qawwali track in a Bollywood film.

Sagar will debut as a playback singer in the Akshay Kumar starrer Sarfira. The film features a Qawwali track titled “Khudaya,” sung by Sagar, which beautifully complements the narrative. Expressing his excitement, Sagar said, “Proud and ecstatic to reveal my Bollywood playback singing debut! This is a milestone I’ve always dreamed of. Sharing a piece of our heart with you. I can’t wait for you all to hear this one.”

Karan Johar signed Sagar under the Dharma Cornerstone Agency, marking Sagar’s first film project with them. Sagar has also toured globally with his concept, Sagar Wali Qawwali, amassing millions of fans worldwide. He gained popularity for his covers of iconic retro Hindi songs, and his original tracks like “Mera Ishq,” “Royi Hovegi,” and “Ishq Ch Kamli” have garnered immense praise.

Sarfira, the official Hindi remake of the acclaimed Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020), stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, and Paresh Rawal.
