A fatal crash on I-30 in Dallas has resulted in the tragic death of a pregnant woman and critical injuries to her baby after their stalled car was struck by an off-duty Dallas police officer’s vehicle early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. when a Chevy Malibu stalled in the center lane near 2nd Avenue, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

An off-duty Dallas police officer, driving a Jeep Wrangler, collided with the stationary Malibu.

Emergency responders rushed the pregnant woman from the Malibu to a hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased woman has not been disclosed.

The baby, surviving the collision, is in critical condition as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. Details regarding the conditions of the other occupants in the Malibu have not been made public.

The off-duty officer involved in the crash underwent evaluation at the hospital and was subsequently released.

Authorities closed a section of the interstate until around 6 a.m. to conduct investigations. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation, withholding further details at this time.
