Munjya Passes CBFC Without Cuts, Paid Previews on June 6

All eyes are on this week’s big Hindi release, Munjya, part of the exciting Maddock Supernatural Universe, which includes Stree (2018) and Bhediya (2022). Set to release on June 7, Munjya has generated significant buzz.

On Tuesday, June 4, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) completed the censor process for Munjya and awarded it a U/A certificate. Notably, the CBFC’s Examining Committee did not request any cuts, either audio or visual. The film’s length, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 123 minutes (2 hours and 3 minutes).

Additionally, Munjya will have paid previews on Thursday, June 6, offering moviegoers an early chance to catch the horror-comedy. An industry insider noted, “Usually, paid previews begin on Thursday from 6:00 pm onwards. In this case, the screenings will start only after 10:30 pm or 11:00 pm, possibly because of its horror feel.”

Munja stars Sharvari and Abhay Verma in the lead roles. Sharvari’s glamorous avatar in the song ‘Taras’ and during the film’s promotions has been well-received. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the film promises to be a notable addition to the supernatural genre.

The other major release this week, the Hollywood flick Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, will also have paid previews on June 6. Despite reports of an early full-fledged release, its shows will start only after 7:00 pm in most theaters.
