2 Killed, 2 Arrested Following McKinney Shootout and Police Chase

McKINNEY, Texas – A deadly shootout at an apartment complex in McKinney on Wednesday afternoon resulted in two deaths and two arrests after a dramatic police chase.

The shootout occurred near Logan and McDonald Street, involving a 19-year-old McKinney man and a 20-year-old passenger in a pickup truck. After the gunfire, the truck fled the scene, later dropping off the 20-year-old and an 18-year-old passenger, Christopher Perez, at a nearby hospital.

The 19-year-old and 20-year-old succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Authorities have yet to release their identities.

The truck’s driver, identified as 21-year-old Josue Mejia, led police on a high-speed chase into Richardson. Mejia abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.

Meanwhile, Christopher Perez was taken into custody at the hospital. Both Mejia and Perez face murder charges, though their exact roles in the incident remain under investigation.

Authorities have not determined a motive for the shooting. It is unclear how Mejia and Perez were involved in the deadly exchange of gunfire.

This ongoing investigation highlights the tragic consequences of escalating violence and the complexities of determining culpability in such cases.
