Lyft to Launch Autonomous Robotaxis in Dallas by 2026

DALLAS — Lyft plans to launch autonomous robotaxis in Dallas as early as 2026. The ride-sharing giant has partnered with Marubeni, a Japanese company known for managing large fleets, to roll out this ambitious project.

Marubeni will supply the fleet of vehicles, and Lyft will equip them with Mobileye Drive technology to enable fully autonomous rides. Users can book these self-driving vehicles directly through the Lyft app, offering Dallas residents a new ridesharing experience.

Lyft’s collaboration with Marubeni shows how easily companies can deploy automated vehicles through Lyft’s platform. Dallas will serve as one of the first cities to experience this technology, and Lyft plans to expand robotaxi services to other locations shortly after.

This announcement comes just before Lyft’s quarterly earnings report, highlighting the company’s focus on growth and innovation. Meanwhile, Uber is preparing to launch its own autonomous vehicles in Texas. Recently, Uber opened an interest list for driverless rides in Austin, signaling growing competition in the autonomous rideshare market.

Although Lyft hasn’t announced an exact launch date for Dallas, the company promises to share more details soon. Lyft CEO David Risher expressed excitement about the partnership, stating on social media, “The more AVs out there, the more the rideshare market expands. It’s all part of our promise to serve and connect, and we’re excited to have Marubeni along for the ride.”

With both Lyft and Uber racing to introduce autonomous vehicles in Texas, Dallas residents can expect significant changes in the future of ridesharing.
