Saudi-backed LIV Golf has announced a major tournament in North Texas, marking a significant event in the league’s calendar. The LIV Team Championship, the final event of the season, will take place at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, featuring a staggering $50 million purse.

The championship rounds are scheduled from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22. LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman highlighted the event’s significance, stating, “Texas is legendary for producing and hosting great golfers who set a high bar while competing for championships. Our LIV Golf Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club will be a great experience for our players and all the fans in attendance.”

Launched in June 2022, LIV Golf has attracted players from the PGA with its lucrative paydays. One of the tour’s prominent names, Bryson DeChambeau, an SMU alumnus and North Texas resident, expressed his excitement about the tournament. “I’m excited to play this course and compete in front of Texas fans for our closing event and can’t wait to bring LIV Golf‘s electrifying energy and fierce competition to Dallas,” said DeChambeau, who plays for Crushers GC.

In addition to DeChambeau, the event will feature renowned golfers such as Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Jon Rahm.

The LIV Team Championship promises to deliver thrilling action and high-stakes competition, solidifying North Texas as a key destination for premier golfing events.
