In a thrilling World Cup 2023 encounter at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Rohit Sharma‘s Team India showcased their brilliance once again by defeating South Africa with a stunning 243-run margin. The star of the match was undoubtedly Virat Kohli, who celebrated his 35th birthday by playing a monumental innings. Kohli’s century equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s remarkable record of 49 ODI centuries.

Despite challenging conditions, Kohli’s century was the cornerstone of India’s impressive total of 326/5 in 50 overs. The Indian team started aggressively, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill taking on South African bowlers. Keshav Maharaj applied the brakes during the middle overs, but Kohli and Shreyas Iyer managed to maintain the momentum.
