Tabu and Ali Fazal’s ‘Khufiya’, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is all set to release on Netflix on October 5. Ahead of the same, the trailer of the film was unveiled on Monday. From what appears from the trailer, ‘Khufiya’ is a story of love, loyalty, revenge and betrayal.

The trailer begins in 2004, at the R&AW headquarters in New Delhi. A voiceover informs us that there is a spy within the agency. We follow the actions of Ravi Mohan (played by Ali Fazal), who is suspected of stealing highly classified documents for a foreign power, putting his loyalty to his nation in question. Ravi is closely monitored by a team of counter-espionage agents, led by Krishna Mehra (played by Tabu). Even his wife (portrayed by Wamiqa Gabbi) and young son are kept under constant surveillance. Throughout, Ravi vehemently asserts his innocence, declaring himself a devoted patriot.

The world of “Khufiya” is filled with mystery, betrayal, and narrow escapes. The latter part of the trailer focuses on Ravi’s audacious escape from the country. It also introduces a mysterious character portrayed by Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon. We are also introduced to Ashish Vidyarthi, who represents the top leadership of R&AW.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’ve always been fascinated by the world of espionage, and I’m truly thrilled to explore this genre with ‘Khufiya.’ This film has given me the opportunity to reunite with Tabu and collaborate for the first time with two very talented actors, Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi. It also marks my first creative venture with Netflix, which has been both exciting and rewarding.”
