Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency Release Postponed from September 6

Kangana Ranaut’s highly anticipated film Emergency will no longer hit cinemas on September 6 as originally planned. The film, which has been embroiled in controversies over the past week, now faces an uncertain release date.

The decision to postpone likely stems from ongoing issues surrounding the film. On August 31, the Punjab and Haryana High Court heard a case filed by Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh, residents of Mohali. They argued that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should revoke Emergency’s censor certificate. Additionally, they requested that eminent Sikh personalities review the film before its release.

CBFC has mandated certain cuts to the film, but the final certification remains under consideration. According to Hindustan Times, Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India, who represented the CBFC, stated, “It [the certification] has not been granted as of now. It will be granted as per rules and regulations, as applicable in this case. If anyone has any grievance, the same can be sent to the board.”

As of now, it’s unclear when Emergency will be released, and whether the delay will extend beyond a week.
