John Abraham’s Tehran to Release Directly on OTT This Independence Day
John Abraham and Manushi Chhillar’s much-delayed action thriller Tehran is finally gearing up for release — and this time, directly on OTT. According to sources close to the production, the geopolitical thriller is set to premiere on Independence Day 2025, bringing a powerful patriotic punch to the streaming platform.
Originally scheduled for theatrical release on January 26, 2023, and later pushed to April 2023, Tehran has seen multiple postponements. However, the makers are now confident about its final rollout. “The team is seriously considering Independence Day for its digital debut. A final call will be taken soon,” a source revealed.
Despite its 90-minute runtime, the film has reportedly shaped up well. The makers are thrilled with the final cut, and the film has been sold for a record-breaking OTT price — especially after John Abraham’s previous hit The Diplomat delivered strong results at the box office.
Directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Maddock Films and Bake My Cake Films, Tehran is inspired by true events and explores the complex layers of global politics, espionage, and national duty. The film also features Madhurima Tuli as John Abraham’s on-screen wife.
Speaking about her experience, Manushi Chhillar shared, “Shooting for Tehran was enriching. Every day taught me something new. Despite the intense night shoots, the learning was worth it.”
With its compelling storyline and patriotic timing, Tehran is set to be one of OTT’s marquee releases this year.
