Janhvi Kapoor in Talks to Lead Sridevi’s Iconic Chaalbaaz Remake

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor may soon take on one of the most iconic roles of her late mother, Sridevi. According to industry insiders, a leading producer has approached Janhvi to headline the official remake of Chaalbaaz, the 1989 cult comedy that cemented Sridevi’s place as one of the greatest performers in Indian cinema.

“For Janhvi, Chaalbaaz is more than just another film — it’s an emotion,” a source revealed. “She immediately showed interest in stepping into the role but is approaching the project with caution, given the weight of her mother’s legacy.”

The source further explained that Janhvi is not rushing into the decision. “She doesn’t want to simply cash in on her mother’s name. She has been seeking advice from close industry circles to ensure she can do justice to the part. While she is thrilled about the opportunity, she remains wary of inevitable comparisons. A final call is expected by the end of September.”

Details regarding the director and production team remain tightly under wraps, but news of the project has already sparked excitement among fans eager to see Janhvi recreate the magic of Chaalbaaz.

The original Chaalbaaz, directed by Pankaj Parashar, starred Sridevi in a double role and is remembered as one of her career-defining performances. If Janhvi signs on, the film will not only mark a significant milestone in her career but also serve as a heartfelt tribute to her mother’s cinematic legacy.
