Ishq Vishk Rebound: Shortest Bollywood Film in Recent Times
The youthful entertainer, Ishq Vishk Rebound, is all set to hit theaters this week. The film’s makers completed the Censor process well in advance. They received the censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on June 10. The CBFC passed the rom-com with a U/A certificate, making two modifications: blurring visuals of the middle finger and displaying a disclaimer on alcohol consumption during liquor-related scenes.
Interestingly, Ishq Vishk Rebound boasts a runtime of just 1 hour and 46 minutes (106 minutes). This makes it the shortest significant Hindi film in a long time. In an industry where films often exceed two hours, this runtime sets it apart.
Recent Bollywood films with short durations include Raksha Bandhan (2022; 110 minutes), Dhokha – Round D Corner (2022; 108 minutes), and Kuttey (2023; 108 minutes). Zwigato (2023) had a runtime of 105 minutes but saw a limited release. The last major release shorter than Ishq Vishk Rebound was Jai Mummy Di (2020). It ran for 103 minutes and released in around 750-800 screens.
A multiplex official remarked, “It’s common for Hollywood films to be 1 hour 40 or 50 minutes long. But we were pleasantly surprised to learn about this film’s runtime. It’s rare for a Hindi film to be this short. Now, we can accommodate six or even seven shows of Ishq Vishk Rebound in a screen per day, if required.”
Ishq Vishk Rebound stars Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grewal. Directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari and backed by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films, the film releases on June 21.
