Hulu US in Talks with Diljit Dosanjh for Documentary on His Life and Career

Hulu US is in talks with Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh for a documentary series. The series will cover his life, from his small-town beginnings in Punjab to becoming a global music icon. It will highlight his rise in Punjabi and Bollywood music, along with his international success. Talks are ongoing, and if finalized, filming could begin this year.

The idea for this documentary started after Dosanjh’s historic Coachella 2023 performance. He became the first Punjabi artist to perform at the festival, making headlines worldwide. His 2024 Dil-Luminati Tour further boosted his fame, drawing massive crowds across North America.

According to Oxford Economics, the 13-city tour in the US and Canada created a $112 million economic impact. It also generated $13 million in tax revenue and supported 5,300 jobs.

A source close to the project shared, “The OTT giant recognizes the potential of Diljit’s story. He has broken barriers, from Punjabi music to Bollywood to the international arena.”

The documentary will feature behind-the-scenes footage from Dosanjh’s concerts, exclusive interviews, and personal stories from the artist himself. It will also explore his struggles, his Bollywood journey, and how Punjabi music is gaining global recognition.

If the deal goes through, this project will be a landmark moment for Punjabi representation in Western media. Dosanjh, who already appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, could further cement his status as a global icon through this documentary.
