Hrithik Roshan Acquires Rights for Hindi Remake of Will Smith’s I Am Legend
Hrithik Roshan is making bold moves in his cinematic journey. While currently filming War 2 with Jr. NTR and preparing for a cameo in Alpha alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, Roshan has secured the rights for a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood sci-fi thriller I Am Legend, starring Will Smith.
Roshan recently acquired the rights to remake this post-apocalyptic classic, setting the wheels in motion with his team. Known for his inclination toward high-concept films, this new venture will mark another exploration of the sci-fi genre for Roshan, who previously considered similar projects with filmmaker Kabir Khan. Although creative differences halted that collaboration, Roshan remains determined to bring this powerful story to a Hindi-speaking audience.
The I Am Legend remake is still in the early stages, with Roshan collaborating with a new director. However, his focus also remains on Krrish 4, the highly anticipated sequel in his superhero franchise. Produced by his father, Rakesh Roshan, and directed by Karan Malhotra, Krrish 4 is expected to begin production next year.
In the original I Am Legend, Will Smith plays Robert Neville, a scientist who becomes humanity’s last hope after a biological war transforms most humans into vampire-like mutants. By day, Neville hunts these creatures, who sleep in the abandoned city ruins. By night, he fortifies himself, hoping to survive until dawn. This haunting story promises to bring suspense and emotion to Roshan’s Bollywood adaptation, adding a new dimension to the sci-fi thriller genre in Indian cinema.
