Housefull 5 Movie Review: A Franchise That Should’ve Stopped at Four

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri & others
Director: Tarun Mansukhani

Script Analysis:

If you thought the earlier Housefull films were chaotic, Housefull 5 raises the bar—for how bad writing can get. The plot? A mishmash of fake identities, forced slapstick, sexual innuendos, and lazy callbacks that do nothing but drain your patience.

Characters like Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Nana Patekar are introduced with flair, but their impact fizzles out thanks to juvenile dialogues and headache-inducing sequences, including a bizarre rap number that deserves to be forgotten. Even the few nostalgic elements from previous films fall flat, thanks to poor timing and zero creativity.

The film’s humor has hit an all-time low—borderline offensive and completely disconnected from modern sensibilities.

Star Performances:

Let’s be clear: this cast is not the problem. Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and even veterans like Nana Patekar and Jackie Shroff try hard to inject life into a lifeless script.

Unfortunately, no performance survives this wreck. Their timing, energy, and effort are all wasted.
The female cast—Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, and Soundarya Sharma—are sadly reduced to objectified screen fillers with little to no substance or contribution to the story.

Even comic veterans like Johnny Lever and Chunky Panday are burdened with outdated, cringe-worthy jokes that miss the mark every single time.

Direction & Music:

Tarun Mansukhani delivers what is arguably the weakest installment in the Housefull series. What once was a guilty pleasure franchise has now turned into a tone-deaf parody of itself. There is no logic, no flair, and no real comedy—just noise.

The music? Forgettable at best. Only ‘Laal Pari’ leaves a faint impression, while the rest are poorly placed and tonally off. The background score tries to create energy where the script can’t—and fails.

Housefull 5 Movie Review: The Last Word

Housefull 5 isn’t just a bad film—it’s a warning sign. One that screams: stop beating a dead horse. With outdated jokes, lazy storytelling, and wasted talent, this film is a migraine wrapped in loud music and garish sets.

Verdict: If you care about your time (or sanity), skip this one.
Recommended For: No one. Not even die-hard franchise fans.

One word summary? Unbearable.
