Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the much-anticipated series from India, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” marking visionary director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut in the web space. Set to enthrall audiences from May 1 on Netflix, the trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the world of Heeramandi, promising a captivating narrative steeped in conflicts and desires amidst India’s freedom struggle.

The trailer transports viewers to the vibrant district of Heeramandi, where the formidable Mallikajaan (portrayed by Manisha Koirala) reigns over an esteemed house of courtesans. As she navigates schemes and power dynamics, her world is shaken by the return of Fareedan (played by Sonakshi Sinha), the daughter of her late nemesis. Simultaneously, the city roils with revolutionary fervor as Bibbojaan (portrayed by Aditi Rao Hydari), one of Mallikajaan’s daughters, joins the fight for India’s freedom from British rule. Amidst this turmoil, Mallikajaan’s youngest, Alamzeb (played by Sharmin Segal), dreams of forbidden love with Tajdar (portrayed by Taha Shah Badussha), the son of a nobleman, yearning to break free from the confines of Heeramandi.

As betrayals mount and desires clash with societal norms, the struggle for India’s freedom reaches a boiling point. Mallikajaan and Fareedan find themselves embroiled in an epic battle for supremacy over Heeramandi, with the fate of the district hanging in the balance.

Present at the trailer launch were Monika Shergill, Vice-President of Content, Netflix India, and Prerna Singh, CEO of Bhansali Productions, alongside the stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and more.
