Fort Worth Driver Shot, Critically Injured in Crash After Altercation Near Store

FORT WORTH, Texas – A man remains in critical condition after being shot while driving in Fort Worth on Monday afternoon, causing his vehicle to crash into a light pole.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers from the east division were dispatched around 2:51 p.m. to the 4600 block of East Berry Street. Initial reports indicated a major crash involving a small sedan, but responding units soon confirmed that the driver had also suffered a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe the shooting followed a verbal altercation outside a convenience store between the victim and two people inside a large pickup truck. At least one shot was fired at the sedan driver after both parties left the store. The victim’s vehicle then struck a nearby light pole.

The driver was rushed to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.

Officers quickly located and identified the pickup truck involved. Both individuals inside the vehicle were detained without incident and transported for questioning. Authorities have not yet released their names, and charges have not been announced.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the confrontation and subsequent shooting. Detectives are also reviewing potential surveillance footage from the area to piece together the sequence of events.
