Five Dallas Women Killed in Fiery Crash Near Austin During Girls Trip
A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded last Friday when five young women from the Dallas area lost their lives in a fiery car crash near Austin. What was intended to be a joyful girls trip ended in sorrow for five families and an entire community.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 281, just north of Austin. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the group of friends was traveling southbound when a livestock trailer, moving north, crossed into oncoming traffic. After hitting a vehicle in front, the trailer struck the women’s SUV, causing it to overturn and catch fire.
All five women—Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velazco—died at the scene.
A makeshift memorial now stands near the crash site, adorned with flowers and tributes in honor of the victims.
Family members confirmed the women were close friends, on a short road trip for leisure.
Loved ones are now raising funds to cover funeral costs. Ruby Cruz’s sister shared a tribute photo and called for support. Brianna Valadez’s father, Jose Valadez, also confirmed his family is seeking donations during this difficult time.
The Dallas community is mourning this unimaginable loss, with many extending thoughts and prayers to the grieving families.
