Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 Starring Ranveer Singh to Begin Filming in January 2026
After several delays, Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 is officially set to begin shooting in January 2026, with Ranveer Singh taking over the iconic role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan. The film, which has been under immense public scrutiny since its announcement, finally moves into production.
A reliable source confirmed, “Yes, there were delays, but they were unavoidable. Ranveer Singh faced massive online trolling for stepping into SRK’s shoes, and both he and Farhan chose to stay low until the initial backlash cooled off. Ranveer also needed time to undergo martial arts training, which is essential for this version of Don.”
The film’s lead actress, Kiara Advani, who replaced Priyanka Chopra, experienced a personal delay after becoming pregnant. Production was temporarily paused to accommodate her situation. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar focused on his role in the war drama 120 Bahadur, in which he portrays Major Shaitan Singh. The film is slated for a November 21, 2025 release.
With all hurdles now cleared, the Don 3 team is gearing up for a start-to-finish schedule beginning January 2026, eyeing a grand release in December 2026.
Interestingly, the source also hinted at the possibility of Priyanka Chopra returning to the franchise in some capacity, raising fans’ excitement further.
This new chapter of the Don franchise promises high-octane action, a fresh cast, and a bold new direction—ushering in a new era for the iconic thriller series.
