A minor 3.5-magnitude earthquake originating in Fullerton, just 2 miles from Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, led to the temporary closure of 35 rides. The quake struck Orange County around 8 p.m., followed by a lighter aftershock at 8:30 p.m., with over 2,800 reports of people feeling its impact, as per the U.S. Geological Survey.
Despite no initial damage or injuries reported at the theme parks, inconvenience struck as several favorite attractions ceased operations.
Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and even the holiday-themed It’s a Small World attraction were among those affected. By 9 p.m., most rides were closed, except for a select few like the Jungle Cruise and Mad Tea Party at Disneyland, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Disney California Adventure.
