Deepika Padukone Becomes First Indian Honoured with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
In a historic moment for Indian cinema, Deepika Padukone has become the first Indian actor to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The announcement was made during a live press conference at Ovation Hollywood, confirming her name as part of the prestigious Class of 2026.
Deepika will join global icons such as Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, Emily Blunt, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Franco Nero, and Gordon Ramsay, all of whom will be honored with stars next year. The Hollywood Walk of Fame, which stretches across Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles, celebrates the most influential contributors to global entertainment.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame selection panel reviewed hundreds of nominations during its June 20 meeting. The board of directors approved the final list on June 25. Peter Roth, former CEO of Warner Bros Television and chairman of the selection committee, said, “These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them.”
Deepika expressed her appreciation with a heartfelt Instagram story that read simply: “Gratitude…”
Earlier this year, Indian-American creator Mindy Kaling also received a Walk of Fame star, becoming the first South Asian woman to do so.
On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Singham Again and is expected to appear next in King alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.
