DART Warns Riders About Delays During Dallas Winter Storm

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has announced extended station hours and proactive measures as a winter storm approaches. Beginning Thursday, transit stations will operate from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate passengers navigating the anticipated snow and ice.

Preparations for Winter Weather

DART crews are gearing up to clear roads, rails, and waiting areas to ensure safety. The wintry mix, expected to arrive early Thursday, marks the start of 48 hours of winter weather in Dallas. “It’ll be a collaboration of folks, city and DART, working to make sure there are safe rides for folks,” said Jasmyn Carter, DART Spokesperson.

Service Impact

Riders should brace for delays as snow and ice may slow transit services. DART assures passengers that their teams are prepared to respond quickly, maintaining bus and train operations as smoothly as possible.

Lessons from Previous Storms

This isn’t DART’s first experience managing winter weather. Both in 2023 and earlier in 2024, the agency dealt with similar conditions, addressing icy roads, rails, and platforms. With those challenges in mind, DART is ready to minimize disruptions.

Stay Prepared

Passengers are encouraged to plan for potential delays and check for real-time updates on DART services during the storm. Safety remains a priority as the city and DART work together to provide reliable transportation options through the challenging weather conditions.
