Dallas Weather: North Texas Braces for Extended 90‑Degree Heat Wave

After a wet start to June, North Texas is transitioning to a significantly drier and hotter pattern, with temperatures expected to hover around 94°F throughout the coming week. The rains have kept the area green, but rising temperatures will quickly usher in summer-like conditions across the Dallas‑Fort Worth Metroplex.

A stable atmospheric pattern will keep highs within a degree or two of 94°F, with morning temperatures in the 70s providing only slight respite. The “feels like” temperatures may rise later in the week, but dropping afternoon dew points should help prevent the heat index from reaching 100°F — at least for now. Historically, North Texas’s first 100‑degree day arrives around July 1.

Gulf moisture will continue to move into the area, bringing low morning clouds that give way to sunny skies by afternoon. This moisture, combined with a high‑pressure system over the Tennessee Valley, may lead to isolated showers across southern and southeastern counties. However, widespread rain is not anticipated for the Dallas‑Fort Worth area this week.

The same high‑pressure system is impacting much of the country, bringing sweltering temperatures to other major cities like Washington, D.C., and Chicago, where highs are expected to approach or exceed 100°F.

With temperatures rising to the mid‑90s by late week, North Texans can expect summer conditions to dominate until further notice.
