Dallas Police Shot, Kill Man Holding Knife After Aggravated Assault Incident
Dallas Police responded to a disturbance call at 5850 Beltline Road around 6:45 p.m. on Friday night, where a man had allegedly committed aggravated assault family violence with a knife.
According to Dallas Police, officers arrived to find a woman inside a tent and the man holding a knife near a tent in a wooded area behind an apartment complex. Despite orders from the officers to drop the knife, the man reportedly advanced towards them with the weapon.
In response, officers discharged their firearms, striking the man. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The woman, who sustained non-serious injuries, was also taken to the hospital. None of the officers involved were injured, as per preliminary reports.
Additionally reported that Animal Services were present at the scene, although Dallas Police have not provided details regarding any animal involvement.
The incident remains under investigation, with Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia slated to hold a press conference on Monday to release body camera footage of the incident.
