Dallas Police Officer Arrested on Child Endangerment Charge: Authorities
A Dallas police officer, Aleia Burley, has been arrested on a child endangerment charge in Carrollton. This incident follows the recent arrest of another Dallas police officer, Sgt. Ruben Lozano, on family violence and unlawful restraint charges.
A Dallas police officer, Aleia Burley, was arrested on Tuesday, facing a child endangerment charge in Carrollton. The 29-year-old officer was off duty when the incident occurred. The charge against her is “abandoning or endangering a child with the intent to return,” according to the Dallas police department.
Burley, who has been with the Dallas Police Department since May 2021 and is assigned to the South Central Patrol Division, was arrested around 9:20 a.m. in Carrollton. However, she did not appear in jail records as of Tuesday afternoon, and it remains uncertain whether she has retained an attorney.
Authorities have not yet provided additional information about the circumstances leading to her arrest.
Notably, this is the second arrest of a Dallas police officer in recent days. Sgt. Ruben Lozano, aged 42, was arrested on family violence and unlawful restraint charges in Irving. He, too, was off duty when the incident occurred and has been with the Dallas Police Department since January 2009, assigned to the Central Business District.
The Dallas Police Department has placed Aleia Burley on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, highlighting the ongoing concerns surrounding law enforcement officers’ conduct in the community.
