Dallas Man Injured in Hit-and-Run by Truck While Skateboarding, Police Seek Driver

Dallas – A 22-year-old Dallas man, Julian Barrera, is recovering at home after a hit-and-run incident that left him with serious injuries. On August 11, while skateboarding home after visiting a friend, Barrera was struck from behind by a truck in the Lake Highlands neighborhood. The impact knocked him unconscious and left him bleeding on the sidewalk. The driver sped off, leaving Barrera without any assistance.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on Audelia Road. Barrera sustained a broken left leg and head injuries. “When I first got hit, it was really, really bad,” Barrera recalled. “I broke down a couple of times because the pain, I couldn’t stand it.” He now faces a long recovery, with a metal rod implanted in his leg and several months of healing ahead.

Dallas police have released images of the black Dodge Ram 1500 believed to be involved in the hit-and-run. The truck has front-end damage, including a missing front right light and right fender damage. The last known sighting of the vehicle was at a Quik Trip gas station at Royal Lane and 635 shortly after the incident.

Barrera’s sister, Cassandra, has been working closely with the Dallas detective assigned to the case. Surveillance footage captured the Dodge Ram driving down Audelia Road just seconds after the collision. The Barrera family is urging the driver to come forward or for anyone with information about the truck to contact Dallas police.

This tragic incident has left Barrera in pain and facing a difficult recovery. The family hopes the driver will take responsibility and that justice will be served
