Dallas Animal Shelter Offers Gift Cards to Encourage Adoption And Overcapacity
Dallas Animal Services, facing overcapacity with a surge in large breed dogs, is providing $50 Petco gift cards to the first 75 dog adopters until Sunday.
Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is currently experiencing a high volume of dogs, particularly large breeds, leading to a 139% capacity. To incentivize adoptions and support new pet owners, Friends of Dallas Animal Services (FODAS) is offering $50 Petco gift cards to the first 75 dog adopters until Sunday. Despite efforts like a robust foster program and steady adoptions, DAS struggles to keep up with the intake.
Assistant General Manager Sarah Sheek highlights the importance of community involvement in achieving their live release rate target of 90%. With a successful rate of 85% for both dogs and cats in January 2024, DAS aims to maintain and improve these numbers. The shelter encourages the public to visit and support their adoption and foster programs at 1818 North Westmoreland Road during their operating hours.
