Construction Begins on Dallas ISD’s $80M John Lewis Academy

DALLAS – Construction has begun on a multi-million dollar project to create a state-of-the-art academy in Dallas ISD. A ceremonial groundbreaking took place on May 24 for the John Lewis Social Justice Academy at Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School.

This new institution will honor the late civil rights activist John Lewis, celebrating his contributions to the African American community. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff, who expressed their excitement about the future of their school.

The John Lewis Social Justice Academy aims to provide modern educational facilities and foster a learning environment inspired by Lewis’s legacy of equality and justice. Construction is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025.
