Arlington Secures $16M Federal Grant for 2026 World Cup and Major Event Security
Arlington, Texas – The City of Arlington has secured a crucial $16 million federal grant to enhance public safety during large-scale events, including the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Officials confirmed the grant will ensure anti-terrorism and emergency response measures remain intact for high-profile events held at AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys and a key venue for the upcoming World Cup.
The funding is part of a broader federal allocation awarded to North Texas cities, marking the second-largest public safety grant in Texas, trailing only Houston’s $26 million award.
“This grant is critical not only for our law enforcement and emergency teams, but also for the safety and confidence of the thousands expected to attend these world-class events,” said city officials.
Without the grant, the city risked a major security gap during events that attract tens of thousands of visitors. The federal support allows Arlington and other regional cities to invest in advanced surveillance, emergency training, and crowd control technologies.
As the countdown to the 2026 World Cup continues, Arlington can now move forward with security preparations, backed by federal assurance and local confidence.
