Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday star in Kesari Chapter 2

Akshay Kumar returns with another gripping historical drama, Kesari Chapter 2. The film, previously titled Shankara, now carries a name that connects it to Kesari (2019). Akshay shares the screen with R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in this high-profile project. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective have joined forces to produce the film. The theatrical release is set for March 14, 2025, aligning with the Holi festival.

While the title links to the 2019 blockbuster Kesari, which showcased the Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari Chapter 2 explores a different historical event. Director Karan Singh Tyagi helms this courtroom drama, which follows C Sankaran Nair, a fearless lawyer and freedom fighter. Nair took on the British Raj, seeking justice for the victims of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The story draws inspiration from Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat’s book, The Case That Shook The Empire.

The new title intensifies curiosity, especially among Akshay Kumar’s fans, who still remember his powerful act in Kesari. Unlike the 2019 film, which focused on war, this one dives into a legal battle while honoring the Sikh community’s sacrifices against British rule.

With a compelling historical plot, a stellar cast, and a festival release, Kesari Chapter 2 ranks among the most awaited films of 2025. Fans eagerly await Akshay Kumar’s powerful portrayal and another cinematic spectacle that celebrates India’s fight for justice.
