Akshay Kumar, renowned for his multiple releases in a year, is set to captivate audiences with his upcoming biopic, chronicling the life of C Sankaran Nair. Initially speculated to be titled “The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair,” reports now confirm that the film is officially named “Shankara.”

According to sources close to the production, the decision to title the period drama “Shankara” was reached after careful deliberation, considering its aptness and Pan-India appeal. The title is expected to be formally announced in the next press release or promotional material unveiled by the makers.

Joining Akshay Kumar in “Shankara” are acclaimed actors R Madhavan and Ananya Panday. The film portrays C Sankaran Nair’s courageous legal battle against the British Raj to expose Punjab Lieutenant Governor Michael O’Dwyer’s involvement in the infamous 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Based on the book “The Case That Shook The Empire” by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, descendants of Sankaran Nair, the biopic promises to unveil a pivotal chapter in India’s freedom struggle.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, producer Karan Johar stated, “I am extremely excited and honoured to back the film that will unravel the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the power of fighting for the truth.”

Directed by debutant filmmaker Karan Singh Tyagi, “Shankara” is poised to offer audiences a compelling narrative intertwined with historical significance.
