Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt to Reunite in Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal Thakur Joins Cast
Nearly 12 years after the release of the action-comedy Son of Sardaar, Ajay Devgn is set to return with the much-anticipated sequel, Son of Sardaar 2. The film’s cast has generated significant buzz, with reports confirming that Sanjay Dutt will reprise his role alongside Devgn. However, the sequel will feature a completely new story, not a continuation of the original plot.
According to a source quoted by Mid-day, “The sequel is a fresh story. It won’t pick up where the original film left off.” Fans can expect to see Ajay Devgn as Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa and Sanjay Dutt as Balwinder “Billu” Singh Sandhu. While their character names remain the same, the dynamic between them will shift. “Their on-screen relationship was a hilarious rivalry in Son of Sardaar,” the source explained. “This time, however, their rivalry will be much more intense, with Sanjay’s character leaning towards the antagonist side.”
Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt’s real-life friendship ensures that Dutt’s role will be significant and impactful. Mrunal Thakur joins the cast as the new leading lady, adding fresh excitement to the film.
Vijay Kumar Arora, a successful Punjabi director, will helm the project. Arora previously collaborated with Devgn as the director of photography for the 2014 film Action Jackson. The action-comedy is scheduled to begin shooting at the end of July, with a 50-day schedule in Scotland. The picturesque Scottish locales, including towns like Glencoe and Glenfinnan, and landmarks such as Culross Palace and Doune Castle, will provide a stunning backdrop for the film.
In addition to action and drama, the film will feature romantic songs with Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, set against Scotland’s beautiful scenery.
Ajay Devgn is currently wrapping up work on Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again. After completing this project, he will fully commit to Son of Sardaar 2. Following the Scotland schedule, Devgn is expected to head to London to begin filming for De De Pyaar De 2.
