Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Movie Review
Star Cast: Shanaya Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, Zain Khan Durrani
Director: Santosh Singh
Story Analysis :
The film revolves around Jahaan (Vikrant Massey) and Saba (Shanaya Kapoor), whose paths cross in a way that sets the stage for an emotional journey. However, the adaptation takes creative liberties that border on the implausible — like Saba never removing her blindfold to actually see Jahaan, even while sharing intimate moments.
The second half turns into a typical love triangle, dragging with unnecessary runtime. The core idea — that love is something to be felt deeply rather than judged superficially — remains compelling, but the screenplay fails to capture the emotional depth of Ruskin Bond’s original tale.
On the brighter side, the dialogues are well-written, and Jahaan’s take on the term “specially-abled” is a notable moment.
Performances :
Vikrant Massey brings his trademark sincerity to the role of Jahaan/Kabir, making him both believable and endearing, even if his portrayal of being visually challenged isn’t always convincing.
Shanaya Kapoor makes an impressive debut, displaying confidence, charm, and emotional range. Her performance matches the energy and depth needed for the role, ensuring she stands tall alongside an experienced co-star like Vikrant.
Together, they elevate the material far beyond what the script offers.
Direction & Music :
Director Santosh Singh delivers a visually appealing film with the help of cinematographer Tanveer Mir, making the most of the scenic backdrops. Unfortunately, the music is forgettable, except for the well-written title track “Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan.” Joel Crasto’s background score is serviceable but unremarkable.
Final Verdict – Watch or Skip?

If you enjoy soft, heartfelt romances where destiny plays the biggest antagonist, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan may charm you despite its flaws. The leads’ sincere portrayals make it worth a one-time watch, especially for fans of old-fashioned love stories.
