Flood Watch Issued for Multiple Dallas-Area Counties Amid Heavy Rain
DALLAS – North Texas experienced a stormy night as severe weather systems swept through the region early Monday, dumping more than 3 inches of rain in several areas and prompting a flood watch across multiple counties.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through 7 a.m. Tuesday for the following counties: Anderson, Bosque, Ellis, Freestone, Henderson, Hill, Johnson, Navarro, and Red River. While conditions have settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, areas south of I-20 remain under the highest risk for additional rain.
Storms that passed through overnight carried marginal hail and wind risks, though the worst appears to have passed. Temperatures are holding steady in the 70s, offering some relief from the stormy conditions.
Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be calmer, with only spotty showers predicted. High temperatures will climb slightly, ranging from the low to mid-80s, providing a brief break from the current stretch of stormy weather.
However, rain chances are forecast to rise again on Thursday, when a new system may bring heavier downpours and low-end threats of hail and wind. The system is expected to clear out by Friday, setting up for a relatively dry start to the weekend.
Still, a few showers may return Saturday night, so North Texans should keep an umbrella nearby just in case.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution on flooded roads, and residents in low-lying areas should stay alert as weather conditions continue to evolve.
