Wylie Police Launch Official Search for Missing Woman, Melonie Ballenger
Wylie, Texas – Police in Wylie, Texas, have launched an intensive search for Melonie Ballenger, a 46-year-old woman last seen at her home on Parkwood Drive on November 3. Family members reported her missing when she was not in the house the following morning, sparking an outpouring of support from the community.
According to her husband, Daniel Ballenger, Melonie went to bed around 10 p.m. on Sunday night. When he woke up the next morning, she was gone. Melonie left behind her vehicle, cell phone, and necessary medication, heightening concerns for her safety. “We were scared, obviously,” Daniel said. “We just want her back.”
Upon reporting her disappearance to the Wylie Police Department at 6:30 a.m. Monday, the family initiated an extensive search. Local authorities have employed K-9 units and helicopters to cover the surrounding areas thoroughly. Police have yet to disclose details regarding the circumstances of her disappearance, but they assured the public that all investigative avenues are being pursued.
The family’s church, Gateway Community Church, has organized a community effort to distribute thousands of missing persons flyers and held a prayer vigil Tuesday night. For Daniel and their two young daughters, this support has been a source of strength during an incredibly difficult time. “It’s been unbelievably hard,” he said, adding that his daughters are “going through a month’s worth of emotions every day.”
Police advised community members to avoid conducting their own searches, as this may interfere with the K-9 teams. Anyone with information on Melonie’s whereabouts should contact Detective Pollard at 972-429-8014.
Melonie Ballenger is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The family continues to hope for her safe return as the search progresses.
