Richardson ISD Closes Five Schools Due to Boil Water Notice

RICHARDSON, Texas — Due to a city-wide boil water notice, several Richardson ISD schools will be closed on Thursday. The issue arose after the water tower near Mimosa and Dogwood lost all pressure on Wednesday, following an equipment malfunction that failed to alert operators.

Approximately 17,000 residents in the affected area—between Coit and Highway 75, and between Arapaho and Spring Valley—are advised to boil water before consumption.

The following Richardson ISD schools will be closed on Thursday due to the notice:

  • Arapaho Classical Magnet
  • Dover Elementary School
  • Heights Elementary
  • Richardson West Junior High School
  • Richardson High School

Richardson ISD will issue updates for Friday classes on Thursday.

To assist residents, the city will distribute bottled water at the Heights Recreation Center until 10 p.m. Wednesday and will resume distribution at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
