Rajkummar Rao Begins Filming “Maalik” After Stree 2 Success
With Stree 2 enjoying a successful run in theaters, Rajkummar Rao has shifted his focus to his next project, Maalik, directed by Pulkit. Rao began shooting on the outskirts of Lucknow, specifically on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway, on Sunday. The film’s shoot is expected to last nearly two months.
“We are currently shooting in a village and will then move to Kanpur for 10 to 12 days. After that, the entire team will relocate to Lucknow for an extended schedule, where filming will take place at multiple locations,” said Aroon Singh Dicky, the film’s line producer.
The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Manushi Chhillar, Anshumaan Pushkar, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Swanand Kirkire, among others. Chhillar is also in Lucknow. The mahurat shot took place on Sunday at Pathakpur village.
This marks Pulkit’s second film shot in Lucknow, following the Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Bhakshak. Pulkit, best known for his OTT series Bose: Dead or Alive (2017), which featured Rao as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, has already released two films this year: Bhakshak and Dedh Bigha Zameen (starring Pratik Gandhi).
Before Maalik, Rajkummar Rao shot four films in Lucknow—Behen Hogi Teri (2017), Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), Ratna Sinha’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, and Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed.
