Kalki 2898 AD: Lengthiest Prabhas Film Passed with U/A Certificate
The month of June will end with a bang with the release of Kalki 2898 AD. This highly anticipated film boasts an exciting star cast, including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. Set in the future, it promises to be a visual spectacle.
The Hyderabad office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed Kalki 2898 AD’s Telugu version with a U/A certificate. Thankfully, the Examining Committee did not ask for major cuts. They requested the makers insert a disclaimer at the beginning, with a voice-over stating the film is fictional. The disclaimer adds that the makers have taken cinematic liberties and don’t intend to hurt any religion. Additionally, they asked to add a mention of ‘2898 AD’ with the original text ‘6000 years after Mahabharata’ and to mute the word ‘Veedi’ when referring to Kaal Bhairava.
After making these changes, the CBFC handed over the certificate to the makers of Kalki 2898 AD on June 20. The film’s length, as mentioned on the certificate, is 180.56 minutes. In other words, the runtime is 3 hours, 00 minutes, and 56 seconds.
This makes Kalki 2898 AD the lengthiest Prabhas film ever. His 2023 release Adipurush came close with a length of 179 minutes. Salaar (2023) was 175 minutes long, while Radhe Shyam (2022) was one of his shortest films at 138 minutes. Saaho (2019) had a runtime of 171 minutes, and Baahubali (2015) and Baahubali 2 (2017) were 159 minutes and 168 minutes respectively.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD releases in cinemas worldwide on June 27. This epic film, with its stellar cast and impressive runtime, is set to captivate audiences around the globe.
