Beyoncé Makes History as 1st Black Woman to Top Country Music Chart
Grammy-winning artist Beyoncé achieves a historic milestone, becoming the first Black woman to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart with her latest single “Texas Hold Em.
In a groundbreaking achievement, Beyoncé has once again made history, solidifying her status as an iconic figure in the music industry.
The Grammy-winning entertainer has become the first Black woman to reach the coveted No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart with her latest single “Texas Hold Em.”
“Texas Hold ‘Em” made its debut on country radio on Feb. 13 and quickly climbed to the top spot, dethroning Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ duet “I Remember Everything,” which held the No. 1 position for 20 weeks, according to People.
This remarkable success follows the release of “Texas Hold Em” and “16 Carriages” on Feb. 11, which were introduced to audiences in a Verizon commercial during Super Bowl LVIII.
According to Billboard, “Texas Hold Em” garnered 19.2 million official streams, 4.8 million in all-format airplay audience, and sold 39,000 copies in the U.S. as of Feb. 15. Meanwhile, “16 Carriages” amassed 10.3 million streams, 90,000 in radio reach, and 14,000 sold.
Beyoncé‘s achievement extends beyond the country music genre, as she also becomes the first woman to top both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts since their inception in 1958.
With anticipation building, the Houston native is set to release a new album titled “Act II” on March 29, following the success of her Renaissance album in 2022. Beyoncé continues to break barriers and redefine excellence in music, leaving an indelible mark on the industry for generations to come.
