House of the Dragon’ Star Milly Alcock Cast as Supergirl in DC New Film

Milly Alcock, known for her role in ‘House of the Dragon,’ is set to portray Supergirl in DC’s upcoming film ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’

DC Studios has chosen Milly Alcock, renowned for her portrayal of the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” as the new Supergirl. Alcock is set to lead the cast in the upcoming feature film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” based on the DC comics run by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

Despite the absence of a confirmed director, the project is gaining momentum, with Ana Nogueira (“The Vampire Diaries”) tasked with writing the screenplay. James Gunn, one of the architects of the new DC Universe, confirmed Alcock’s casting on Instagram. While the superhero debut date remains unannounced, speculation suggests Supergirl may initially appear alongside Superman in Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” before embarking on her solo journey.

Australian-born Alcock rose to fame on Aussie TV before making her mark as the young Targaryen princess in the first season of the “Game of Thrones” prequel series. Gunn, emphasizing a fresh start for the new DCU, sees Alcock portraying a different take on Supergirl in the 2022 comic book run, where she witnesses the destruction of Krypton until the age of 14, making her a “much more hardcore” character.

Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, has been portrayed by various actresses in recent years, including Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle. The new DC Universe, under Gunn’s vision, aims for a reboot, promising a unique perspective on the iconic character in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”
