Dallas PD Vehicle Hit by DUI Driver in Overnight Crash, Man Arrested

A 51-year-old man, identified as Samuel Cooks, was apprehended for driving while intoxicated (DWI) after colliding with a Dallas PD vehicle that was attending to a prior crash overnight on Friday.
The initial crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m., prompting police to probe the possibility of street racing as a contributing factor. While officers were still at the scene investigating, Cooks’ vehicle crashed into a police vehicle with its emergency lights activated, around midnight.
The collision involved two officers who were inside the vehicle at the time. Following the incident, they received medical treatment at a local hospital and were subsequently discharged.
Samuel Cooks was taken into custody and charged with DWI in connection with the collision involving the police vehicle. The incident underscores the dangers of impaired driving and its potential consequences, particularly in situations involving law enforcement at accident scenes.
