British pubs MUST shut down early as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to increase.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the new guidelines Tuesday, a day after the

U.K.’s chief medical officers issued the nation’s COVID-19 alert level, highlighting that the virus is in general circulation spreading at a faster rate. According to reports from the top medical experts, the number of cases in Britain could increase as high as 50,000 a day in October if no action is taken.

Dr. Michael Head, a global health expert at the University of Southampton said, “It is important to note that the chief medical (officer) did say the potential for 50,000 cases a day is a ‘worst-case scenario’″, but added “it’s a timely reminder that the pandemic is accelerating, both globally and also here in the U.K.”

The prime minister’s office stated that pubs, bars, and other hospitality venues will be ordered to offer table service only and must close at 10 p.m.

An application to improve virus contact tracing efforts will be launched this week after months of delay.
