According to reports from the Supreme Court, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies at 87 due to metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was the oldest sitting member.

Chief Justice John Roberts expressed heartfelt condolence and said, “Our Nation has lost a historic stature jurist. We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn, but with confidence, that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her — a tireless and committed champion of justice.”

In July, Ginsburg announced that she was going through chemotherapy treatment for lesions on her liver, the latest several battles with cancer.

She was born as Joan Ruth Bader on March 15, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, and was the youngest of two children to Nathan and Celia Bader. In her Kindergarten only, she decided to go by her middle name Ruth.

The 2018 movie titled, “On the Basis of Sex” essayed her journey to becoming a justice.

She is survived by two children, Jane and James, and several grandchildren.
